Team Fortress 2, despite a fairly active following, doesn’t get much enthusiasm or support from Valve. In fact, it’s been several years without receiving any major updates from the company, and many have begun to lose hope that the 2007 classic will receive more content.

Thankfully, thanks to the hard-working Team Fortress 2 community, this year there will be a huge game update with new maps, items, emotes, effects, and more. The update was featured in an article posted on teamfortress.com, which explains How can the community get involved? to make it bigger.

We can’t give Valve too much credit in this regard, as it’s thanks to the community that a lot of this content makes its way into the game. Still, it’s welcome news from gamers.

The date is the 1st May, and Valve has put the community to work to make the update as big as possible. Valve has even suggested that modders can create whatever they want to implement in the update, so it seems very open-ended.

Are you still playing Team Fortress 2?
