There are several side activities and locations to explore in the Resident Evil 4 Remake. These locations were not available in the original game, so you can expect to find some changes during your playthrough. At the start of Chapter 3, you hear a nearby wolf crying with its leg caught in a trap. Do you have to help the trapped dog in Resident Evil 4 Remake and what happens if you do?

How to Find the Trapped Wolf in Resident Evil 4 Remake

You’ll find the trapped dog shortly after you start Chapter 3. When you exit the Village Chief’s Mansion, turn right and you’ll hear a faint whine as you approach this location. There, you’ll find a wolf with part of its paw caught in a bear trap, which infected villagers have hidden all over the map to prevent Leon from escaping. These traps are difficult to handle and the wolf also has a lot of trouble with them.

We recommend that you do everything you can to help the wolf out of the trap. All you have to do is approach the wolf and interact with the bear trap. There’s a short animation of Leon leaning down to separate the bear trap, and the wolf can pull his leg and run away. The wolf happily barks at Leon, thanking him for his help.

It’s a good idea to help this wolf because he can help you later in the game. You will come across a boss, a large giant that Leon must fight during his visit to the Quarry. Partly through this battle, the wolf appears and attacks the giant, aiding Leon in this encounter. When the fight ends, the wolf will appear on the rocks, happily wagging its tail. It’s the same Leon pulled out of the trap.

There’s no harm in helping the wolf out of the trap, and it doesn’t take away any resources from him, so it’s a good idea in every game of the Resident Evil 4 Remake.
