The Diablo IV beta has a similar issue with GeForce RTX cards that New World had over a year ago.

It looks like with Diablo IV we have a repeat of New World. As with Amazon’s MMORPG, Nvidia and Blizzard deal with the issue of the beta of the new Diablo torment GPUs to death.

The issue appears to primarily (if not exclusively) affect gamers with GeForce RTX 3080 Ti GPUs. On the official Reddit and Blizzard forum, you can find statements from people who, after the release of the Diablo 4 beta, noticed that the GPU fans were spinning at maximum speed. They sometimes experience reboots, and in extreme cases people have reported that an error has occurred and the GPU has been damaged.

Of course, such revelations should be approached with great caution. As in the case of New World and GeForce RTX 3090, most likely Diablo IV it’s not bad enough for graphics cards to highlight the flaws of these chips. After all, as netizens have also pointed out (including YouTube channel host JayzTwoCents), modern software is unlikely to harm functional components (if they weren’t designed to do so). ; material defects become apparent.

Two years ago, the problem turned out to be a faulty voltage regulation circuit that couldn’t withstand high temperatures when the GPU was under heavy load. Probably this time we are also dealing with a similar defect in the RTX 3080 Ti model prepared by Gigabyte (because it is this brand that is mentioned under the Diablo 4 problems). Especially from some internet users of these cards report I have also encountered similar issues in other games.

However, the developer still needs to make an effort not only to identify the flaw, but also to reduce the load that Diablo 4 places on the components. Just a week ago, During Early Access, possible memory leaks were reported in Diablo 4 (via Reddit forum).

Until Nvidia and Blizzard have identified the source of the problem, we can only recommend that you enable a limit on the maximum number of frames per second displayed. You can do this from the Nvidia Control Panel:

  1. go to the “Manage 3D settings” section and find and enable the “Maximum frame rate” option (don’t confuse it with “Maximum background application frame rate”!);
  2. select the number of fps (for example, the refresh rate of our screen) and validate.

It is definitely better to restart the game or even restart the system as well.

Don’t ask about the graphics: after a few hours of exposure, you can revel in pixelated game characters reminiscent of the days of the Game Boy era (if not older).
