SEGA comments on the Etrian Odyssey Origins Collection’s $80 price tag

When Etrian Odyssey Origins Collection was announced for the Switch last month, some were surprised by the price. Atlus and parent company SEGA charge $80 for the package. That’s a pretty high number considering other similar packages haven’t quite reached that level.

SEGA has now commented on the decision in an interview with IGN. The company noted the amount of content included, believing that “players will be very excited for the first three games in the remastered series”.

SEGA’s full statement on Etrian Odyssey Origins Collection pricing is as follows:

“Yes, the collection is available for purchase at $80. With this purchase, players will get over 30 hours of gameplay for Etrian Odyssey HD and over 50 hours for Etrian Odyssey II and III, as well as free DLC portrait sets of popular characters from other Atlus IPs during their pre-order. That’s a lot of content and gameplay that we think players will be very excited about in the first three games in the remastered series for Nintendo Switch and Steam.”

All games included in the Etrian Odyssey Origins Collection will be available individually on the eShop. However, this drives the price even higher. Etrian Odyssey I, II and III HD are priced at $39.99 each.

The Etrian Odyssey Origins Collection will launch on Switch on June 1, 2023.
