Now yes, nintendo gives gamers what they ask for, and that is that finally the Japanese-born company has surprised its followers by unveiling a remastering of the Metroid Prime original during today’s Nintendo Direct presentation.

This game was originally released in 2002 for Nintendo GameCubebut had not been relaunched from the package Metroid Prime Trilogy For Nintendo Wii in 2009. This remake of Metroid Prime will feature dual-stick controls using the Switch’s Joy-Con controller, which will emulate the game’s original control scheme.

All of this was revealed as part of the latest presentation of Nintendo Direct today, where the publisher gave fans a first look at this new version of Metroid Prime. This version of the game is officially titled Metroid Prime Remastered and it will be available today in digital format and next month in physical format, it will cost US$40 (about $757.66 Mexican pesos).

As mentioned, part of the reason the game released in this window is because the first title was released in November 2002 on the Nintendo GameCube. Now having this remaster for Switch some 20 years later is a great way for Nintendo to honor one of the most popular games of the GameCube era.

The announcement started when Metroid Prime 4, originally announced at E3 2017, has yet to be unveiled in-game since that first preview. Later, Nintendo reported in 2019 that development of the game was restarting, and during the E3 2021 Nintendo Direct mentioned that development was still progressing before revealing Metroid Dread.

The digital version of Metroid Prime Remastered launches today on Nintendo Switch, while a physical version will launch on February 22 this year.
