In online games, the small details are important, and rocket league is no exception, whether you are trying to find the best hitboxes or deciding on car shapes, there are always choices to be made in the game and customization is recommended to get the best matches.

Your controller layout and camera setup can also make a big difference in gameplay, as well as helping you gain an edge on the pitch, which is why we’re sharing the best way to set up Rocket League.

The Best Rocket League Camera Setup

First, the camera can become a complete issue, as its height, zoom, and many other nuances can determine which part of the arena you see, and the default settings might not meet your needs.

We share with you the best Rocket League custom camera settings

  • Camera Shake: Off
  • Field of view: 110
  • Range: 275
  • Height: 110
  • Angle: -3.0
  • Stiffness: 0.45
  • Rotation speed: 5.5
  • Transition Speed: 1.2
  • Reverse Rotation: Off (Personal Preference)
  • Bullet Camera Mode: Toggle

For starters, we think Camera Shake should be turned off as it completely messes up the screen and confuses things, and it’s advisable to keep a field of view of 105 as we don’t want to max it out, but still want to open up our vision.

Now for the distance it should be around the 275 mark and with a sitting height of 115. We just found that too much height can skew the perspective a bit, and the same goes for the distance. The angle won’t have much influence, so we’re happy to leave it at a neutral -3.0.

Anything less than 0.55 should be fine for stiffness, while turn rate and transition speed are probably personal preferences based on how quickly you can follow and adapt to sudden movements.

We therefore recommend 5.5 for spin and around 1.15 for transition, remember not to invert the Swivel as this only complicates the game. Also the ball cam toggle switch should always be engaged for optimum performance.

The best settings for your Rocket League controller

It’s time to move on to game controller settings. Knowing how to reset in Rocket League is one thing, but it’s about mastering those controls and making sure your movement feels smooth and pure.

Here are some of the best recommended controller settings:

  • Steering Sensitivity: 1.00
  • Air Sensitivity: 1.00
  • Controller dead zone: 0.60
  • Dodge Deadzone: 0.60
  • Gamepad Vibration: Off
  • Vibration intensity: N/A
  • Bullet Camera Mode: Toggle

The important thing is to keep steering sensitivity and air sensitivity as low as possible. Tinkering with what is essentially the car’s traction control is fine if you’re playing a competitive racer like Gran Turismo or Forza, but it’s definitely not what we need here.

We will keep Controller Deadzone and Dodge Deadzone at 0.60. FPS gamers will be familiar with dead zones as they basically tell the joystick how much thrust in a given direction before your player/car moves in that direction, so keeping it neutral will do the trick.

Leaving the vibration control is up to you, but for optimal playing conditions it’s probably best to leave it on, and finally the ball camera mode should be set to toggle as you’ll want to follow the ball for most of the game and it saves you from having to concentrate on pressing extra buttons, and voila, let’s win!
