A well-known patent expert criticizes Sony for its behavior towards certain rival hardware manufacturers over the years. Florian Mueller, a patent activist and analyst with 20 years of experience behind him, called the tech giant’s behavior “gratuitous, stupid, childish and unprofessional.” It should be noted that Mueller mentions in his blog some of his clients, where he is Microsoftin addition to having been a consultant for Blizzard between 1995 and 1998.

Mueller wanted to respond to a GameRant blog post regarding Sony’s patent application for a universal controller, where the company called non-PlayStation products “inferior”. Mueller assures that this is not the first time that Sony has referred to this inferiority.

In this blog post, the author cited more than a dozen instances where Sony explicitly referred to rivals as a “different, albeit inferior, manufacturer”, referring to other competing consoles.

Florian Mueller assured that “they have been doing this since 2011. It is surprising that no one has discovered this ‘tradition’ before, and that no patent office told them a long time ago to stop doing it once. once and for all.”
