Hardly any other franchise is as well-known (and as top-selling) as Pokémon. The Japanese pocket monsters first saw the light of day in February 1996, when Nintendo released the first Pokémon editions red and green for the original Game Boy in their home country. It will soon be 25 years ago – a big anniversary! According to current rumors, this will soon serve as an occasion for some announcements. Including remakes of the fourth generation of Pokémon (diamond / pearl / platinum) for the Nintendo Switch.

According to the rumors, the announcement should already be on February 25, 2021 is the so-called Pokémon Day, which is celebrated every year on the occasion of the publication of the first games in February 1996 with all kinds of celebrations and activities. The new Switch games should be released at the end of the year. Usually new Main Pokémon Games in November released, so if the speculation is true, this could be release month.
According to rumors, the remake of Diamant and Perl is supposed to be games with a “full” catch mechanism and not like Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! / Eevee! (Remakes of the very first generation) from 2018 to include titles that are extremely simplified in terms of gameplay. At that time, there was some criticism among fans of the decision to use the catch system from the mobile megahit Pokémon Go for the Let’s Go games. This means that no fights against wild Pokémon are possible in the games.
Is the remake coming?
Pokémon Diamant und Perl appeared in Japan in 2006 and in Germany in 2007 for the Nintendo DS. The fourth generation of Pokémon has been sold almost 18 million times worldwide, making it the 5th best-selling DS game of all time, ahead of Black / White, Black 2 / White 2 and HeartGold / SoulSilver. There has not yet been a new edition of the fourth generation. The first generation (red / blue / yellow) was not just for the switch in the past (buy now 687.13 €), but also reissued for the Game Boy Advance. Gold / silver / crystal appeared as a remake for the DS, sapphire and ruby again for the 3DS. A new edition of Generation 4 would be next in line.
