In his continuing coverage of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor from Respawn Entertainment, we spoke with Design Director Jason of Heras and Production Director Kasumi Shishido to learn more about the game’s enemies. While Cal Kestis has a few new tricks up his sleeve, he’ll also have to deal with more threats during his journey. Early on, you can expect a lot of Separatist droids.

There are the B1 battle droids, which serve as enemies “flesh and bone” in Kobh and attack in relatively large groups. Just like in the movies, their jokes will be funny, so they’re quite entertaining on their own. B2 droids are the most powerful and require more hits when attacking with blasters and missile launchers.

BX droids are more agile and fight at close range with vibrating swords, while droids, called “destroy droids”, they have bubble shields and heavy blasters. The IG-100 Magna Guard is considered a “Top Elite” who served as General Grievous’ bodyguard and can fight one-on-one with a Jedi.

The DT Sentinel Droid comes from Star Wars Rebels. There are three variants with stick, missile, hammer and blaster available. They’re pretty deadly, and Shishido said the first encounter should be a moment like “Oh shit” while De Heras has confirmed that his attack will be quite intense.

A returning droid is the KX from Fallen Order, but this one will attack more with a stun baton. Finally, on the human side is the Shield Tropper, a Scout Trooper with a bit more defense…until you forcefully strip him of his shield.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will be released on April 28 on Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC.
