Fans think the long rumored Naughty Dog Fantasy Game could have been teased again. The latest “sneak peek” comes from a statement from audio director Neil Uchitel in a new Noclip documentary.
Is Naughty Dog mocking a fantasy game?
While talking about making The Last of Us Part 1 for PS5, Uchitel talked about a fantasy setting with magic and hyperrealism.
“The realism and sound is really, really hard to recreate faithfully because when you do it the wrong way, it’s immediately noticeable,” Uchitel said, as observed by a ResetEra user. “When you’re working on a big game that involves magic or, you know, some kind of hyperrealism in a really substantial way, it’s easy to hide behind great sound.”
Although Uchitel is speaking hypothetically, fans believe he is referring to something Naughty Dog is working on.
In 2021, a Naughty Dog developer uploaded artwork to his ArtStation profile, leading to rumors that the studio was working on a fantasy game. The artist, Hyoung Nam, later denied these rumors. Then The Last of Us Part 1 came out last year, in which fans saw some fantastic art (pictured above) on a wall in the game.
Naughty Dog has kept its new project a secret. The only clue we have so far is that it’s probably not The Last of Us 3.
