An underrated gem in 2022 despite being licensed by Marvel, Marvel’s Midnight Suns is now available to play as a free PC game for a short time. Publisher 2K is offering deep discounts on some of its best games including Borderlands, XCOM and NBA 2K3 as part of a bigger sale, though you’ll need to act fast if you want to watch Midnight Suns for free.
We were very impressed with the superhero strategy game and its understanding of the source material with many deep references to Marvel comics, although developer Firaxis does a good job of keeping things accessible to more casual fans. It also gives you the option to create the first customizable hero in the Marvel Universe with your created character, The Hunter.
Marvel’s Midnight Suns is free to play on Steam from February 16-19. You will have access to the standard edition of the full game, which means that you have access to all parts of the tactical role-playing game, except for the downloadable content offers. You only have until 10:00 a.m. PT / 1:00 p.m. ET / 6:00 p.m. GMT / 7:00 p.m. 40% off until March 2.
There’s a lot going on at Midnight Suns, so chances are you won’t be done with it all when the free period ends. However, you’ll have plenty of time to get a feel for its mix of strategic combat and the social aspects of spending time at the Abbey base. We were especially excited to hang out with big names like Tony Stark, Captain Marvel, Wolverine, and Blade, as well as darker faces like Nico Minoru and Magik.
There are also more characters on the way in DLC, with Deadpool already available, Venom slated to arrive on February 23, and Morbius and Storm slated to arrive later. Unfortunately, these characters will not be available in the free version, but will join those who decide to opt for the season pass as part of the current sale.
