A National Army truck was attacked with explosives in Norte de Santander. Soldiers from the 30th Brigade who were inside the car at the time of the attack experienced minutes of panic.

The events took place in an area known as La Curva, on the road that connects Santiago and Salazar de las Palmas, municipalities of Norte de Santander. Unidentified men threw an explosive device at the truck in which several soldiers were transporting.

Witnesses to what happened in this sector, which is totally desolate, assured that the criminals who attacked the truck with the explosive also shot with guns at the car, as reported by radio station RCN Radio.

According to initial information, the attack against the National Army caused no casualties. Apparently no one was hurt either.

Just eleven days ago another armed attack was registered in Cúcuta, Norte de Santander, which consequently left one policeman killed and another injured.

The facts, according to information known at the time, were recorded in the sector known as San Fernando del Rodeo on the night of February 6, 2023.

Apparently the police were patrolling this outlying area when they were attacked with a gun by two men riding a motorbike.

After the attack was reported, the uniformed officers received medical treatment at the scene, before being transferred to hospital. One of the patrollers, identified as Gerson Perez Rodriguezremains under a guarded prognosis due to the severity of his injuries.

Hours after the attack, the newspaper Cucuteño La Opinión reported that despite medical efforts, injuries to his back and face did not allow Pérez Rodríguez to survive.

The other policeman who was injured, according to RCN Radio, did not present serious injuries, so a few hours after the attack he was released.

After this attack on the police, another man in uniform was murdered on February 11. This is Freddy Bautista Peñaloza, who was attacked by a sniper.

The events were recorded at the substation located in the Banco de Arena corregimiento, on the border with Venezuela. The man in uniform received two bullets, one in the back and the other in the arm.

Through social networks, the National Liberation Army (ELN) claimed responsibility for the attack against the institution and the homicide of the man in uniform.

“Units of the Northeastern War Front (FGNO) carry out shooting (sniper) actions against the Banco de Arena corregimiento police station. Result: the sub-commander seriously injured”, indicates the press release published by this guerrilla.
