Microsoft has confirmed that the hugely popular Xbox Game Pass $1 trial has been “discontinued”. Several fans watched the offer drop over the weekend, which was followed by an official statement from the company.

Speaking to The Verge, Xbox Global Communications Manager (Kari Perez) explained that the team is evaluating other marketing promotions for new Xbox Game Pass members in the future:

“We have discontinued our previous introductory offer for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass and are evaluating different marketing promotions for new members in the future.”

For obvious reasons, the ultra-cheap Xbox Game Pass trial has always proven to be a hit with Xbox owners, and there’s always a chance we’ll see it again in the future. However, for now, it looks like Microsoft has other ideas.

Don’t forget that the company is also preparing the launch of the Xbox Game Pass Friends & Family plan, which is currently being tested in several countries. It’s impossible to say for sure, but maybe it has something to do with the removal of the $1 trial offer?
