If you’re a basic League of Legends Annie player, I suggest you look away now. The lovable but deadly MOBA mid lane mage will get some nerfs in future patches, as the balance team still thinks she’s a bit Also powerful.

Annie is the perfect rookie League of Legends champion; in fact, many believe that if you can tame the creepy boy and his fluffy best friend, Tibbers, you can play any wizard in the game. Unfortunately, my Syndra still sucks.

Annie currently boasts a pretty impressive 55.44% winrate in the high ELO mid lane, and has also worked her way up to support where her winrate sits comfortably at 56.19%. Unsurprisingly, Rylai’s Crystal Septer remains the heart of both releases, with Liandry as the first element in the middle and Shurelya’s Battlesong as support.

After spotting these stats (obtained via LoLalytics), Riot confirmed that it was working to eliminate the flame-wielding mid laner from a few pegs, with gameplay analyst Ray ‘RayYonggi’ Williams writing that while League patch 13.3 of Legends hit her with some nerfs, she didn’t go down as expected.

“It was fixed in patch 13.3, which reduced it from ~56% to ~54%,” they state, later clarifying that “it’s probably still out of range, but we wanted to make sure that ‘she would no longer fall in line’. strong but not OP’ naturally, as it went from 58% to 56% from the start of the patch to before the micropatch.

“That being said, I guess we’ll weaken the next opportunity,” Williams wrote. “We intend for it to be good, but it’s clearly on the line at the moment. A reasonable slow-mo win rate for Annie, a simple champion with limited reach and mobility, will likely be in the 52% range, given the number of seated champions

“We’re a little slow on this one due to the micropatch hitting a little lighter than expected and the patch’s weird circumstances (support and mid meta change).”

52% is quite different from 55% and 56% respectively, but at least Riot knows about it. However, given her current win rates, I expect that to be relatively soon – Annie’s support drives me just as crazy as Ashe’s support.

It’s unclear whether or not he’ll fall on the League of Legends tier list, but either way, he’ll remain the most beloved mascot in multiplayer gaming, when he’s not spontaneously burning you out.
