Available via a free update, the Mercenaries mode returns in Resident Evil 4 Redo. While the original title offered a single-player experience in terms of an additional mode, Living in front of 5 Added cooperative items on inclusion. Although multiplayer might seem like an obvious choice for The Mercenaries in Resident Evil 4 remake given the other Capcom multiplayer resident Evil titles, this mode is still a single player affair.
There is no multiplayer mode in The Mercenaries in Resident Evil 4 Redo. Instead, players must take down waves of enemies on their own to unlock different characters on their available roster. These include HUNK, Leon S. Kennedy, Luis Serra and Jack Krauser. Each character has a unique ability that can be used once players have killed enough enemies to recharge their “super”. It’s unclear if more characters will be added to the mercenary roster at a later date.
However, Ada Wong and Albert Wesker have been pulled from data, with their animations and some voice lines existing in-game. Whether these characters will be available, Capcom has yet to say. Until then, players can enjoy a handful of settings and characters in the meantime.
