Immutable X has announced a new upcoming addition to its ecosystem known as Immutable Passport. Part wallet, part login authenticator, Immutable Passport promises to be an invaluable tool for developers and gamers alike.
What was once just a secondary solution to gas charges for Gods Unchained maps is rapidly growing into a huge mover and shaker in the world of Web3.
IMX continues to work to make the onboarding process for new players smoother. And along the way, they’re creating APIs and tools for developers to help them take advantage of these technological improvements. And in its latest move, Immutable X announced the Immutable Passport.
Passport is a noncustodial wallet and authenticator app designed to provide a seamless and secure entry point for players, and an easy-to-implement solution for game developers looking to onboard new players. The Immutable Passport will be a sort of one-stop-shop for accessing partner gaming platforms, as well as the integration of NFT Marketplace and IMX Marketplace tokens. From the user’s perspective, your Passport will be both a login tool and a wallet.
Passport will work with a simple login and configuration system: just an email and a password. No seed phrases, no multiple authentications. But they also aim to make Passport more than just a card management tool. They want to create features that will appeal to players and NFT collectors, like the ability to display in-game achievements. And of course, Passport will be tied to the IMX market and take advantage of gasless transfers.
The Immutable Passport is already being integrated into Gods Unchained and Guild of Guardians.

What is Immutable X?
Immutable X is an Ethereum Layer 2 scaling solution for NFTs. Developed as an offshoot of Gods Unchained, when the team realized that high gas fees were a major obstacle to card trading, Immutable X quickly became a major NFT market. Immutable X has attracted a growing variety of projects to its platform. Some notable names include Gods Unchained, Guild of Guardians, Illuvium, and Ember Sword. But it’s not just for NFT games. Immutable X is also home to dozens of other NFT projects.
The platform launched in 2021 and released its token later that year. There are no gas fees when trading on IMX. However, there are 2% “protocol” fees on each transaction and sometimes market fees on projects as well. The platform supports over a dozen tokens, including ETH, IMX, GODS, and GOG tokens. Most game tokens available on the platform can be used for purchases.
Immutable X is rapidly expanding its portfolio of partner apps, as well as building a suite of developer tools to help integrate into its ecosystem.
