A hardcore mode is something many players in the RPG genre will likely be familiar with. Not only is the difficulty increased, but in single player mode, if your character dies there will be no respawn and you will have lost them forever (commonly referred to as permanent death).

However, Diablo IV’s hardcore mode won’t just include single-player elements, and as described by the game’s director of global community development, Adam Fletcher, if your character meets his end in the optional fields of hate, will disappear forever. This could lead to very intense player versus player battles, where not only your pride is at stake, but also your character’s life.

You can of course completely ignore this aspect of the game, but for achievement hunters it may be necessary to take the risk in the Fields of Hatred, as an achievement is unlocked by killing 10 players in hardcore PvP mode.

Will you bathe your hands in the blood of your enemies fighting on the Fields of Hatred?
