Hogwarts Legacy is full of spells to find and learn. While some of these spells will come from your daily classes and story quests, others will come from easy-to-miss side quests. The Diffindo spell is one of those spells you get by completing a task for one of your masters. Specifically, you need to complete Professor Sharp’s second task to get this spell. This guide will show you how to unlock the Diffindo spell in Hogwarts Legacy.
How to Complete Professor Sharp’s Task 2 at Hogwarts Legacy
Like the Depulso spell, you will learn the Diffindo spell from Professor Sharp, but only after completing one of his tasks. Each of your tasks focuses on getting and using potions to see the different effects they have. During his second mission, you need to get two potions, an invisibility potion and a Thunderbrew potion.

Getting these potions is not very difficult, you can buy them by going to Hogsmeade and visiting Mr. Pippin. Of course, buying the potions will cost you over 1000 Galleons, so be prepared for the hefty price tag. You can also buy the recipes for these potions from him, but it will cost you roughly the same amount. If you decide to brew these potions, you will need the following ingredients and a potion station:
- Invisibility Potion Recipe – 1 Jumping Mushroom Hat, 1 Gnarled Blade of Grass, 1 Troll Goblin
- Thunderbrew Potion Recipe – 1 Leech Juice, 1 Wrinkled Fig, 1 Stench of the Dead

Once you have both potions, you will need to perform a specific action with each. For the invisibility potion, you just need to drink it. For the Thunderbrew potion, you must use it during combat to damage enemies. Once you’ve completed both tasks, go to the Potions Classroom and talk to Professor Sharp to learn the Diffindo spell. There’s a training dummy in the classroom if you want to practice a bit before using it in battle.
