There are many ways to navigate the oceans of Ark: Survival Evolved. Whether it’s riding the mighty Megalodon or spinning on an Angler, there’s always a way to move. While most people don’t consider the Manta to be a maneuverable creature, oddly enough, this not-so-nice pancake-like creature offers quite high mobility. In this guide, we’ll cover how to tame a manta in Ark: Survival Evolved so you can glide in style.

While his file describes Manta as a docile creature, in reality he is anything but docile. Just swimming near them is reason enough for them to attack the player. They also seem to actively seek out their prey, as domesticated aquatic creatures “stationed” near the shore will also be regularly attacked by them. Manta rays usually swim together in groups of three and group together to ruin your day.

They are found on all maps except Scorched Earth and Extinction, due to a lack of deeper water locations.

The Manta cannot be stunned to be tamed as it is a taming passive. Note that Manta is a hostile creature, unlike Ichthy and Mesopithecus, which makes this taming extremely frustrating and, given Manta’s high damage, even dangerous. This is the main problem you will encounter. AnglerGel, a substance deposited by the angler, is used to tame manta rays.

To fight against its aggressive radius, use insect repellent. You need to spray yourself with insect repellent while on land, then put on your scuba fins and use an amphibious mount to lure the mantas into very shallow water (so they can’t go up or down). Approach the Manta from behind.

They won’t attack you if you touch their stingers or the backs of their “wings”.

Using SCUBA Flippers can also be a big help when you need to run away in case you get angry. You can also craft a trap using a Stone Doorframe. The large span of the manta’s fins helps in catching the manta if you tame it yourself.
