There’s a handful of evidence of Merlin outside of Rookwood Castle in Hogwarts Legacy. You can find them west of this location, and you might be looking to solve them all if you want to unlock more gear slots for your character. Trial of Merlin in Troll Lair
The first is west of Rookwood Castle, north of a troll lair. When you arrive, place the Malvasulce on the test bench and four rocks will come out of the water. You will have to jump over the four rocks without touching the water.

If you go underwater, you fail the test and must try again. This may take a few tries, as it can be difficult to position your character to jump onto the next rock to avoid falling into the water.

Trial of Merlin in Treasure Vault
There is a second trial of Merlin northwest of Rookwood Castle, near a treasure chest.

When you arrive, several bases will come out of the ground. You will need to use the Confringo spell to hit them from your current range and set them on fire. There are only three you need to burn to complete the trial.

Merlin’s trial at the bandits’ camp
Merlin’s Final Trial is located north of Rookwood Castle, near a bandit camp. This is similar to the previous test, where you have to destroy small plinths that spawn from the ground.

Unlike the ones you set on fire, this one will ask you to destroy the owl-shaped pots on it. We use the Confringo spell to do this. There are three groups of pedestals, one farther from the judgement, to the south. Once you have destroyed all these pots, the test is over.
