The Final Fantasy XIV Easter event is underway and as usual players can earn and purchase some awesome rewards, one of the best being the new Scare emote. This emote makes your character scream and flail wildly while their eyes glow yellow in hopes of scaring off Sylphs or perhaps other players, and it’s a fairly easy emote to unlock. This guide will explain how to get the Scare emote and details about other rewards you can get during this Easter event.

How to Earn the Spooky Emote in FFXIV

Like most other seasonal emotes and content, getting the fear emote is pretty straightforward and only requires you to complete the seasonal questline to unlock it. There are only two quests and one destination to worry about, and it shouldn’t take too long either, making this an easy new addition to your collection of dynamic characters.

To start the seasonal quests, head to Old Gridania and talk to Jihli Aliapoh (X:10.2, Y:9.4), which is located in the Mih Khetto Amphitheater. After a short cutscene, talk to the NPC next to Jihil, Hamlyn, to put on Tonberry’s costume. You will then need to go out and find three Sylphs to scare in Old Gridania. Sylphs are green, faerie creatures that players may recognize as one of the first tribes of beasts introduced in A Realm Reborn. The three sylphs you will need to find are horny amphibian lovers in (X: 11.5, Y: 9.1)unsure accomplice (X:11.9, Y:8.7)y Wily Whiner en (X: 10.8, Y: 8.1). Once you’ve scared them off, return to Hamlyn in (X:10.2, Y:9.4)talk to them then talk to Jihil to complete the quest.

For the second mission, talk to Jihil again; she’ll tell you to head to the Central Shroud. Once there, head to the Don’t Be Sylphish Fate location at (X:25, Y:29) and engage Fate. It involves you collecting eggs and hunting Sylphs while dodging attacks from a robotic enemy. Once you and the other players have collectively delivered enough eggs before the time runs out, you will complete Destiny. You’ll also earn a special currency called Midnight Archon Special Eggs that you can use to purchase seasonal items like the Tonberry Glamor set.

Now that Fate is complete, return to Jilhil in Old Gridania in (X:10.2, Y:9.4) and complete the quest, which will reward you with the Scare emote and the “It’s Not Easy Being Green” achievement. It’s possible to repeat fate to earn more money and buy the other seasonal items like an Orchestration Scroll and furniture, and since the items are pretty cheap, it shouldn’t take long to get them all.

This event will take place from March 27 to April 10, so you have plenty of time to complete the quest and get this new emote before it ends.
