You will spend a lot of time in Sons of the Forest building different houses and creating elaborate bases to protect yourself from the environment and cannibalistic threats on the island. There are several basic components you can craft early in the game, including a suspension bridge. Although they may seem simple, bridges can actually be quite difficult to make. This guide will show you how to build a suspension bridge in Sons of the Forest.

How to make a suspension bridge in Sons of the Forest

In Sons of the Forest, you have access to a freeform building style that allows you to create some pretty impressive structures. You can use this building system to create amazing houses with different components. Whether you’re working with treetop bases or just want to connect your base to a friend’s, a suspension bridge is a beautiful addition to your home. To make a suspension bridge, start by constructing a basic frame from three logs. You can also build a wall with horizontal logs if you wish.

Once you’ve built a base frame or wall, you’ll need to build a second one. Hanging bridges can span decent distances, but three-log frames are best separated. Once you’ve built a second frame, you’ll need at least two bundles of string. Rope can be easily found by searching the various camps that spawn around the island. Be careful, these camps can also harbor many threats.

Now that you have the rope, you can connect the frames. Equip the rope in your hand and walk to one of the frames. You will see different arrows appear depending on which part of the frame you are looking at. Focus on the top stud of the frame or wall where you will eventually see a horizontal arrow. Left click when you see this arrow to attack the rope. A second line will appear. Place the second anchor point on the other frame or wall. Start again with the second string.

With both ropes attached, you will now need logs. You can ask Kelvin to help you speed things up. Split the logs in half lengthwise as you would to make a ladder. Head into the space between the strings to see an arrow appear separating them. Place the logs between the strings. You will need a different amount depending on the length of the bridge. Once enough logs have been placed, your bridge is complete.
