The developers of Hogwarts Legacy have decided to postpone the release of the game on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in order to have more time to polish the port.

Hogwarts Legacy has conquered PCs and 9th generation consoles (i.e. PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S). Unfortunately, we will still have to wait for the release on older platforms.

Avalanche Software and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment announced on their Discord server and BloodThis Hogwarts Legacy it will be delayed on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One and will launch on those devices on May 5.

Previously, April 4 was cited as the release date for PS4 and Xbox One.. This means the developers have been given an extra month to polish the version of Hogwarts Legacy for eighth generation devices.

The announcement on Discord did not specify the reasons for the delay. It was limited to making sure the developer is working hard to deliver Hogwarts Legacy on PS4 and XOne and making sure players have the best possible experience across all platforms.

Therefore, we can only assume that the team encountered some unforeseen issues, for example with optimization on weaker devices.

Avalanche Software has not mentioned anything regarding the release of Hogwarts Legacy on the Nintendo Switch console. We can therefore assume that for the moment the release of the game on this platform is not threatened and the title will be released as planned, that is to say on July 25th.

  1. Hogwarts Legacy – game guide

Passionate about video games (and others) for years, he completed an MBA in linguistics, defending a thesis on games. He started his adventure with GlobeLiveMedia in 2015, writing in the editorial department, then also covering movies and oh, horror! – technology (also a contributor to the Games Encyclopedia). He started with platform games, which he still loves (including metroidvania), but he also likes card games (including “analog” games), fighting games, soul games and virtually any other kind of game. Don’t ask about the graphics: after a few hours of exposure, you can revel in pixelated game characters reminiscent of the days of the Game Boy era (if not older).
