Grand Theft Auto 5 has appeared on almost as many platforms as Skyrim. Now all that’s missing is the home toaster and tamagotchi. But do you also think you know every little thing in the game? We don’t think so! That’s why we’ve put together the ten most bizarre gaming facts about GTA 5 for you.

1. The Playboy Interview

In an interview with Playboy magazine, developer Sam Houser admitted that his mother, veteran actor Geraldine Moffat, had a few motion caps and voice acting parts in GTA 5. Although she is not listed in the credits, she is thought to play the mother of Trevor Phillips. They look alike, their actress is also not mentioned in the credits and she has a very heavy British accent even though she is supposed to be Canadian.

2. Marston, the author

On a bookcase in Franklin’s Vinewood home is a book called “Red Dead” by J. Marston. This is a reference to another game from Rockstar Games: Red Dead Redemption and its protagonist John Marston.

3. Racing driver outfit

The discount clothing store in Grapeseed has a black and white jacket with a diamond pattern and a yellow crab on the back. Ryan Gosling wore an almost identical jacket in the movie “Drive”. His jacket, however, was decorated with a yellow scorpion.

4. Witching hour

If you walk to the eastern tip of Mount Gordo between 11 p.m. and midnight in the game, you will see the ghost of Jolene Cranley-Evans. She does not move or take damage if she is shot, and the name of her husband Jock is written in blood on the stone she is standing on.

However, if you get too close, it disappears. By the way, Jolene died while taking a walk with her husband. The two had had marital problems for a long time because he wanted to leave the county to chase his big dream – to become a stuntman. Jolene wanted to stay. So he pushed her off the cliffs of Mount Gordo while walking and the police labeled it an accident. No wonder Jolene comes back as a ghost!

5. Bad boys

Rockstar hired real criminals to record the different criminals in the game to make it more authentic. One of the speakers was released from prison just the day before he was recorded.

6. Yippie Yah Yei, pig cheek!

Everywhere in Los Santos you can find billboards promoting the movie “Die 4”. An obvious reference to Die Hard and its many sequels.

7. Oscarreif

In the “Fresh Meat” mission, the cut scene was almost completely improvised at the beginning by the two actors Steven Ogg (Trevor) and Shawn Fonteno (Franklin).

During the motion capture, Steven Ogg tripped over something and fell while Fonteno burst into laughter. When Ogg got up he yelled at Fonteno while both of them stayed in their character roles, so the scene was brought into play.

8. Wayne’s world

When Trevor and Nigel first meet, Nigel and Mrs. Thornhill crawl obsequiously at Trevor’s feet and repeat “We are unworthy” after they believe him to be a famous actor. Well, who saw the parallels? GTA 5 mimics Wayne’s World, where Wayne and Garth bow and shout “We are unworthy” to celebrities they adore.

9. The truth is out there

During the escape from the police after the bank robbery in the prologue, if you intentionally leave the road and drive on the frozen river, you can look under the bridge and see an alien under the ice.

10. Lost Bowls

To the east of the quarry, a mysterious trap door can be found underwater. Bright light shines through a small window. The trapdoor looks almost exactly like the one from the television series “Lost” and sends out a Morse code. It can be roughly translated to: “Hey, you never call, do you want to go bowling?”. A phrase that Roman Bellic says in GTA 4.
