The Genshin Impact Warrior’s Spirit event takes us back to Inazuma to engage in one-on-one samurai duels. Unlike most anime game battle events, this one won’t let you use the traditional team setup, but will have you fighting one warrior at a time as a traveler. This Genshin Impact event has just started and will continue until February 20.

To participate in this one, players must have an Adventure Rank of 30 or higher and must have completed the Archon quest from Ritou’s Escape Plan. Essentially, as long as you got to Inazuma the right way and completed the intro quest there, you should be eligible.

You will face multiple enemies, one at a time, and a new duel is unlocked each day the event is live. There are a total of six challenges with three difficulty levels to choose from: easy, normal, and professional.

It all seems relatively standard in terms of setup, but the big surprises lie in the actual gameplay. You will be using the Traveler without any access to an Elemental Ability or Elemental Burst. These moves are replaced with a parry, honed techniques, and ultimate techniques. Warrior’s Spirit is pure swordsmanship.

While it would be great to see a parry option added to regular Genshin Impact gameplay for an extra layer of defense on top of dodging, we know that HoYoverse often comes up with fun gameplay ideas just to limit them to events.

It would have even been nice to keep some non-combat gameplay options, like the camera function, working mid-fight during the 3.0 Fayz Trials event. Players were practically begging HoYovere to add this special camera to the regular game.

The Warrior’s Spirit event won’t let you choose your favorite character, but you can still research new ones to use outside of the event with the current Genshin Impact banners. Hu Tao and Yelan are now available in the second half of the update.
