Yesterday, Wednesday February 8, the first Nintendo Direct of the year took place and it left its fans very happy, as some interesting games were announced for the first half and there were some surprise releases. One of those releases was the Game Boy and GameBoy Advance emulators, available to subscribers at Nintendo Switch Online.

Since yesterday, Nintendo Switch Online subscribers in their basic package can download and play games from the original Game Boy, Nintendo’s first handheld console and one of its most successful. Additionally, Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pass subscribers can download and play Game Boy Advance games, with a selection of six titles to launch.

Video games from Game Boy available on Nintendo Switch Online, they have a filter to look like the first Game Boy, like the Game Boy Light and like the Game Boy Color, so you can choose the most nostalgic or whatever looks best to you. There are currently 9 games in the selection which are Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins, Link’s Awakening DS, Tetris, Gargoyle’s Quest, Game & Watch Gallery 3, Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare, Metroid II: Return of Samus , Wario Land 3 and Kirby’s Dream Land.

In the case of games GameBoy Advance, these came with save and rewind states, with the following selection of titles from launch: Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros 3, WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgame$, Kuru Kuru Kururin, Mario Kart : Super Circuit, Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga and The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap. All the jewels of this generation.

If you’re a Nintendo Switch Online or Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscriber, you can now step back in time and play some of the best Game Boy and Gameboy Advance titles, with more to come in the coming months.
