The visual remastering of the sixth numbered installment of the saga was scheduled for this year, but has been delayed because the team wants to ‘offer the best possible experience’.

Final Fantasy VI Pixel Remaster will arrive on PC (Steam) and Android and iOS mobile devices in February 2022 . The last installment of the remastered compilation of theclassic Final Fantasy was scheduled for this year, but from Square Enix they wanted to postpone it to “offer the best possible experience” to the players. As compensation, they have added additional extras to the reservation and to those who will buy the complete pack.

“In order to offer the best possible experience, we want to dedicate the necessary time to polish the last details of the development of the game,” says the Japanese company in a statement on Steam . “We have added new extras for those who pre-purchase the game individually or buy the entire batch. We are looking forward to sharing the final title of the Pixel Remaster series with you early next year and we hope you will be looking forward to playing it too.”

The new extras include several Timelapse Remix songs , “special tracks that begin with the version of the original soundtrack and gradually transform into the renewed alternative version”, and several special wallpapers available in five different sizes. Contents will be available when Final Fantasy VI Pixel Remaster premieres :

Special soundtrack

  • Locke’s Theme (Timelapse Remix) [song added to extras by pre-order]
  • The Decisive Battle (Timelapse Remix)
  • Terra’s Theme (Timelapse Remix)
  • Searching for Friends (Timelapse Remix)
  • Aria di Mezzo Carattere (Instrumental) [song added to extras for pre-order]

Special Wallpapers

  • FF6: 2 types of wallpapers
  • FF1-6: 2 types of wallpapers from the Pixel Remaster series [added to extras by pre-order]

Final Fantasy VI Pixel Remaster will be priced at € 17.99 on Steam when it launches in February. The compilation of the six titles costs € 74.82 (separately they would cost € 95.94) and adds as an extra the soundtrack and the wallpapers. The Japanese magazine Famitsu published several screenshots in its print edition that have been disseminated through social networks. The images show a remastering work in certain scenes that bring the title closer to that seen in works such as Octopath Traveler .
