Koei Tecmo today uploaded a new trailer for their remastered version of Fatal Frame: Lunar Eclipse Mask for switch. Fans can once again see how the title has been updated from the original Wii, which never left Japan.

Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse is set a decade after the mysterious disappearance of five girls during a festival on the island of Rōgetsu, an island in southern Japan. While all of the girls were eventually rescued, their memories were lost, with only the faint memory of a single melody and a seemingly possessed masked woman dancing in the moonlight. Now, ten years later, with no memory of the events surrounding their disappearance, two of the five girls have died, found with their faces covered, in tragic poses and in tears. The three remaining girls now head to the spooky island to solve the mystery of their friends’ deaths, while uncovering the mystery of the memories left behind.

As the girls explore the Western-style mansions and abandoned hospitals of Rōgetsu Island, they’ll rely on moonlight and a dim flashlight to search for clues. The story progresses by uncovering relics like old newspaper articles and notes that help the girls unlock the island’s secret past. While exploring, the girls will also encounter a number of spirits. They will have to use a classic from the FATAL FRAME franchise, the Camera Obscura, to repel the vengeful ghosts, sealing their power as they photograph them. Throughout the game, the girls will need to equip more powerful lenses and switch to different movies to capture the most powerful spirits, while using the camera to capture “things that can’t be seen” to help them find the evidence they need to remember. his haunting past.

The remastered game features an all-new photo mode, along with new and tweaked costumes, and improved graphics, including improved light and shadow rendering, providing a more immersive and terrifying experience. Additionally, the game’s movies and character models have been enhanced to deliver a story that shines both narratively and aesthetically as the three remaining girls attempt to rediscover their pasts before becoming victims again.
