Demon hunters can dust off their tools: Steam Early Access now features Demonologist, a co-op horror game that’s garnering rave reviews.
Last week marked the release of Demonologist on Steam’s Early Access, a cooperative survival horror game from Clock Wizard Games. Our task in the game is to inspect a haunted place and then exorcise the ghost.
Demonologist – brother of Phasmophobia
Gameplay-wise, Demonologist resembles another early access hit from over two years ago: Phasmophobia. The object of the game is to investigate a haunted place: adequate preparation, recognition of the ghost and expulsion using exorcism.
- A set of tools including a flashlight (regular and with UV light), a crucifix or an EMF reader to detect paranormal phenomena are used to deal with the unholy forces.
- During the task, you must be prepared for anything, as random events may occur in the game, which can greatly affect your plans.
- Ghost hunting can be done solo or cooperatively with up to four players.
Demonologist debuted in Early Access on Steam last week and is getting very high ratings – currently 91% of player reviews for the game are positive. Among the feedback from people who have played the game, there are many claims that Demonologist is a better and more content-rich version of Phasmophobia.
This is also confirmed by the growing number of active players: at most demonologist attracted nearly 8,000 concurrent players on Steam (via Steam database).

Until then, Demonologist remains in Steam Early Access. The full release of the game is scheduled for September 2023, exclusively on PC.
