Rockstar Games parent company Take-Two Interactive has made it clear that it has no plans to release games like GTA 6 in PS Plus or game pass. At least not on the first day. On a recent earnings call, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said subscription services are still a small business and there are other ways to support them.

Releasing GTA 6 PS Plus or Game Pass Wouldn’t Make Financial Sense

In response to an investor asking him about the impact of services like Game Pass, Zelnick played down the idea, saying that even with 25 million subscribers, Game Pass is too small a company for Take-Two to launch. games on it. However, the company doesn’t mind supporting PS Plus and Game Pass by offering other back catalog titles on them.

“We don’t make our premium titles available day-and-date,” Zelnick said (transcribed by SeekingAlpa). “We are delighted to be in business with subscription services for our catalog titles at the right time. We believe this is the right way to support underwriting, and underwriting is still a relatively small business.”

Zelnick went on to say that he isn’t worried about subscription services “cannibalizing” the traditional business of selling games at full price. If some recent AAA releases are any indication, that’s certainly true today.
