PlayStation 5
Sony’s PlayStation 5 has reached another commercial milestone as it has become the fastest-selling console in United States history – despite the current lack of components. The latest reports come just a few months after it was revealed that the PS5 was the top-selling console in the US in January.
Despite the fact that the console is becoming increasingly difficult for the average customer to find, the PS5 has already generated a tremendous amount of sales. In January alone, the PS5 made up to $ 170 million in sales, breaking the twelve-year record for the Nintendo Wii.
USA
While these are just US numbers, the console has sold similarly well in most overseas regions, despite having the same storage and production restrictions there.
According to the latest NPD report, the PS5 is now officially the fastest-selling console in US history based on total sales in dollars. The report also found that the PS5 ranked second in console sales in February, leaving only the four-year-old Nintendo Switch behind.
Scalpers and other restrictions
Due to delivery bottlenecks from scalpers, the PS5’s sales are likely not as impressive as they could otherwise be, so it makes sense that dollar sales is the unit of measure chosen here. By costing more than the Nintendo Switch, the PS5 had an advantage in that regard.
