World of Warcraft’s Battle for Azeroth expansion may have had a rocky start, but it turned into a fun experience by the end of the adventure. Battle for Azeroth featured some of the best raid content from the MMO’s most recent lifetime, and had plenty of cool mounts and rewards to collect. The Battle of Dazar’alor raid introduced in Patch 8.1 was a unique epic battle in that it allowed players to step into the shoes of other factions for a period of time through two unique encounter experiences. This raid also brought fantastic rewards, so it’s no surprise that you want to play alone many years later. Much of the Battle of Dazar’alor raid can be played solo in Dragonflight on certain difficulties, but there are a few bumps in the way.

One of the main reasons someone solos older raids is for the chance to get rare mounts that were lost in the expansion. Battle of Dazar’alor features two unique mounts to collect, the GMOD and the Glacial Tidestorm mount. GMOD can be farmed on any raid difficulty, but Glacial Tidestorm is only available from the cache after defeating Jaina Proudmoore on Mythic difficulty.

Farming Battle for Dazar’alor as a solo player is possible, but it’s quite a pain at the moment. There are several challenging obstacles throughout the raid, and while most fights aren’t deadly, they do require a lot of time and patience to play solo. Some of the early fights can easily be done as a tank if there are transmog options you want to farm, but later fights will require assisting in encounters that are impossible to do solo at the moment.

If you want to play single-player Battle of Dazar’alor for GMOD, there are several ways to do so. While GMOD is normally a rare drop from the Mekkatorque encounter on Normal, Heroic, and Mythic difficulty, it also has a chance to drop when defeating Jaina Proudmoore on Raid Finder difficulty. Battle of Dazar’alor Raid Finder wing 3 (titled Victory or Death for Horde and Might of the Alliance for Alliance) can be queued via two NPCs:

  • Kiku for Alliance players is located at coordinates (X:74, Y:14) at the Boralus Inn.
  • Eppu for Horde players is located at coordinates (X:68, Y:33) in the Great Seal of Dazar’alor.

This part has three encounters that can be played solo. It’s a slow process, but nothing is too deadly about these fights as a tank class. One thing to keep in mind is to be constantly on the move to avoid getting stunned by the chain ads when encountering Mekkatorque.

It is possible to play Battle of Dazar’alor solo, especially for tanks, on normal difficulty and higher, but there is one major obstacle in the way. Conclave of the Chosen combat is not possible solo on most classes due to an in-combat mechanic that completely silences you, preventing all abilities from being cast unless dispelled. The problem here is that even with a dispel, you can’t dispel while silenced. If you ignore this encounter, you’ll also find that the Mekkatorque encounter is tediously slow as it can’t process annoying adds. GMOD farming is currently best done in Raid Finder, which is tedious but doable.

Mythic Battle of Dazar’alor for the Glacial Tidal Storm mount in World of Warcraft: Dragonflight

Glacial Tidal Storm mount is even more challenging than GMOD farming as it involves overcoming the aforementioned obstacles while dealing with new mechanics and increased amounts of damage and health pools. Farming this mount as a solo player is not recommended at this time as it’s basically not possible without some luck or some clever tricks. While some of these encounters will get easier as Dragonflight introduces better gear, there are some that will always be a hard wall until Blizzard scales down the actual abilities.
