RICOCHET anti-cheat now available in Call of Duty Vanguard Season 3
When the anti-cheat RICOCHET made its debut in Call of Duty: Warzone, it was exclusive to battle royale only. Vanguard players have been puzzled by the lack of adequate anti-cheat since launch, but all of that is about to change as RICOCHET is now also available in Vanguard.
The arrival of RICOCHET for all intents and purposes at the start of Season 3, it couldn’t have come at a better time considering Ranked Mode has already seen a large number of cheaters ramping up since the mode was released. The security features of the RICOCHET anti-cheat backend were already present in the latest CoD, but until now the kernel level driver was exclusive to Warzone.
Fortunately for players of the latest installment of the saga, not only is the PC anti-cheat security driver now active in Vanguard, but it is also bringing with it all previous updates made to the driver since its initial release.
The Call of Duty team says having RICOCHET active will impact the ranking of ranked matches as bans continue to be implemented: “If someone is banned for cheating, they will be eliminated from the rankings”. This will also impact Warzone rankings.
In addition to all the previous ways in which RICOCHET could detect and punish cheaters, Warzone and Vanguard will now benefit from an additional method called Cloaking. The RICOCHET team explains that with Cloaking, “players who are detected for cheating will be unable to see opposing players in the game world ”.
This technique is very similar to the Damage Shield described above, but with Cloaking, “Characters, bullets and even the sound of legitimate players will not be detectable by the cheaters”.
According to the RICOCHET team, they have managed to ban 50,000 cheaters since the last update in February. Hopefully, with a full version of RICOCHET, players will be able to play in peace, especially in Ranked Season 3.
