Digital Bros. Digital Entertainment revealed the Assetto Corsa 2 release date window in the spring of 2024 in its latest financial report. Kazunori Yamauchi, the CEO of Polyphony Digital, recently hinted that Gran Turismo 8 is also in production, but the game probably won’t be released until Assetto Corsa 2.
The Assetto Corsa franchise has sold over 28 million copies
Digital Bros., which publishes video games under its 505 Games brand, acquired Assetto Corsa developer Kunos Simulazioni in 2017. Its latest semi-annual financial report reveals that “the second version of Assetto Corsa” is already in development and whose the release is scheduled for spring. 2024. It’s unclear what platforms Assetto Corsa 2 will be on, but a PS5 release is expected.
The report also states that Assetto Corsa games continue to have “superior performance”. During the first half of the 2022-2023 financial year, it exceeded 12 million euros in turnover. That’s impressive considering Assetto Corsa Competizione launched on PS4 in June 2020 and ported to PS5 last year in February.
Additionally, the overall racing franchise has surpassed €104 million and sold over 28 million copies through December 31, 2022. Assetto Corsa Competizione is the official Blancplain GT World Challenge video game and of the FIA Motorgame Esport Tournament.
In the meantime, all we know about GT8 so far is that it’s already themed and is likely compatible with PSVR 2.
