You can make many choices when interacting with NPCs in the world. While most of these interactions are small, some of them have bigger options, like whether or not you should help Garreth during potions class. When an option like this presents itself, it’s easy to wonder and worry that the wrong choice is making a difference.

Luckily, most dialogue options don’t matter and won’t affect your gameplay. Most of the options you choose will take you to different forms of the same NPC dialogue. Don’t get too comfortable though, as some of the dialogue options are important. The choices you make can affect certain parts of the game, but most are small.

There are a handful of sections in the game with significant dialogue. For example, when you complete certain quests, you can tell the offeror that you keep the item they requested. You can hear them later in the hallways talking about you and whether you did something right or wrong. There are also quests that involve bringing companions which change depending on who you choose.

Finally, Sebastian has a few dialogue options that are important and affect your ability to learn curses, as well as whether you’ll see him at the end of the game. Luckily, if you make a bad decision, most of the time you forgive yourself. Most NPCs will give you a second chance to choose the correct dialogue option if you say something that annoys them in any way.
