It looks like Zelda Tears of the Kingdom’s new abilities and powers are a big game-changer, with four new abilities confirmed so far and each one clearly changing the way Link explores and fights enemies. Whether it’s soaring through the skies with Ascend or traveling back in time with the Recall power, these new powers are worth a closer look ahead of the game’s release so you’re ready to best use them. Here are all the new abilities and powers in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

All The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom abilities revealed so far

Zelda Tears of the Kingdom has confirmed four new abilities at the time of writing, which we feature below:

You can click on any of them for more details, or just scroll down to see all the information available. The main gameplay trailer revealed so far makes them very similar in applying the powers attached to the Sheikah Slate in Breath of the Wild, though their actual functions differ significantly.

recall

Recall is an ability that allows players to “rewind” time and path of physical objects, essentially forcing those objects to undo any moves they’ve recently made. We’ve seen Link use this ability to lift a falling rock from a floating island along its path, but this time Link was standing on it, using it as an elevator to get to those higher islands.

Fuse

It’s such a complex ability that we’ve covered it in our Zelda Tears of the Kingdom fusions and fusion ability guide, but for a quick breakdown here: Fuse allows you to create instant combinations of weapons and shields combined with other items., modifying its functioning and efficiency. Mix two weapons to get new hybrids, add special materials to introduce new items to your arrows, stick items to your shield to block attacks to add trigger effects. It seems quite versatile and can be done quickly and on the fly, making it applicable in the middle of combat. Not to be confused with our next skill…

ultramanic

Ultrahand is a combination of telekinesis and super glue, which allows you to move and attach objects to form new structures, especially vehicles. Players can pick up items such as logs, fans, candles, etc., and attach them to other objects (as well as break those connections) to come up with intricate constructs designed for a purpose. Vehicles are clearly the main focus here – we’ve seen ships, cars and flying machines arms using Ultrahand, but there’s no indication that you can’t create barricades, ramps, and non-moving structures at the time of writing.

To go up

Perhaps the simplest ability we’ve seen so far, Ascend sends Link up into the air. – But there’s a catch. There must be a surface above Link for him to risesuch as a roof, a platform, the bottom of an island or the like. Once Link encounters this surface, he automatically traverses it and finds himself above it, effectively ascending from a flat plane to the one above him in a single motion. You can’t climb without a surface above you and you have to end up on the next fixed plane, so it’s less of a flight power and more of a fixed vertical teleport. However, as a big addition to the Hyrule map is the Floating Islands, this could be a very useful way to get to these islands in no time.

How many skills are there in Tears of the Kingdom?

at time of writing only the four skills mentioned above have been confirmed for Tears of the Kingdombut neither was it said declaratively that these will be the solo four, and we may see more in the final product. Breath of the Wild had five abilities, including the camera function, and added another, summoning the Master Cycle, in the DLC below. Still, it looks like the versatility of features like Ultrahand and Fuse might mean four abilities are more than enough.

Are Breath of the Wild abilities in Tears of the Kingdom?

Talking about that, there is currently no reason to believe that Cryonis, Stasis, Magnesis, Camera, and Remote Bomb have made the transition to Tears of the Kingdom.although there was also no clear statement that No Tellingly, these powers in Breath of the Wild were tied to the Sheikah Slate Link carried with him, and we noticed that it didn’t appear on his belt in Tears of the Kingdom gameplay footage. For now, we think it’s more likely that you No see those powers in the final game, though we can’t say with absolute certainty.
