World of Warcraft has taken a lot of steps to ease the frustration of bad luck, especially in the latest expansion, Dragonflight. Continuing the popularity of the Creation Catalyst in late Shadowlands, players have a way to convert loot pieces into leveled armor through a new system called Revival Catalyst. With so many sources of gear rewards in Dragon Isles, it can be confusing to know which ones can be transformed through this machine. Let’s break down all the gear sources that can be used on Revival Catalyst in World of Warcraft: Dragonflight.
What gear can be upgraded with Revival Catalyst in World of Warcraft: Dragonflight?

World of Warcraft’s latest expansion offers plenty of options for players who have never played the game in the past. Most of these sources can be turned into level gear through Revival Catalyst, but there are also some popular types of loot that cannot be used on the machine. Armor that can be worn in Revival Catalyst includes:
- Any out-of-tier raid gear obtained during the current season of Dragonflight
- Any Mythic Plus gear earned during the current season of Dragonflight
- Any ranked PvP gear rewarded or purchased with Conquest during the current Dragonflight season
- Any Sparks of Life boosted War Mode PvP team during the current season of Dragonflight
- Any upgraded Primal Storms gear through Storm Sigils during the current season of Dragonflight
Please note that necklaces, rings and trinkets are never eligible for Revival Catalyst. Cloaks, bracers, belts, and boots can be converted to gain different stats and unlock transmog skins, but will not provide level bonuses.
Gear sources that cannot be converted through Revival Catalyst include:
- Crafted gear acquired through professions, both from the auction house and personally crafted
- Normal dungeon equipment
- Regular quest rewards
- Equipment Bought or Acquired through Renown Reputation

Converting gear to level armor via Revival Catalyst in World of Warcraft: Dragonflight

The Revival Catalyst is located at coordinates 60, 53 in the Tyrhold region of Thaldraszus. However, you won’t be able to use it until you officially unlock it.

To unlock the Rebirth Catalyst, you must complete the Reanimate Koranos Watcher Machine quest atop the Aspect Headquarters in Valdrakken. It is located at 55, 41 in the center of the city, at the highest point.
Once you have the quest, fly to the Revival Catalyst location at 60, 53 in Tyrhold and talk to the NPC Antuka next to the machine. This will officially unlock Revival Catalyst for all characters on your account.
