Your home common room is one of the first places you’ll be able to freely explore when you first start out, and once you progress through the game with so many open rooms, it can be difficult to find your home common room. .

Where to find all common rooms

You will choose your Hogwarts house when you start the game while completing the tutorial quest. There are four common rooms, one for each house, and they can be found in Hogwarts Legacy by climbing the Grand Staircase, although you can only enter the common room from your own house.

How to find the Slytherin common room

First, go to the Slytherin common room. This room is located at the bottom of the Grand Staircase in the dungeon. Once you reach the bottom of the stairs, you can head to the big door. From there you will turn right and go down another set of stairs.

Once you reach the bottom of the stairs, you’ll find a dark room with the classic snake logo on the floor letting you know you’re headed in the right direction. There’s a snake curled up in the main room just in front of a wall, and players from Slytherin house can approach it and the snake will reveal a door. Other players only see a normal wall.

How to find the Hufflepuff common room

The Hufflepuff room is much brighter than the previous Slytherin common room. This can be located near the kitchen, which is on the second level from the bottom. This level is home to the Grand Staircase, so when you look up the stairs, turn left and you’ll see a giant plant hanging from the ceiling. This is the path to the Hufflepuff common room. Go around the corner next to the Grand Staircase, then descend the spiral staircase which has tree branches wrapping parts of it.

Once down the very long staircase, you will find yourself in a basement and you will pass a portrait that leads to the kitchen of Hogwarts. Now turn right at the end of the hall. There should be two large barrels against a wall to the left, and the furthest barrel is the secret entrance to the Hufflepuff common room. If you are in Hufflepuff’s house, you can walk there and enter the room.

How to find the Gryffindor common room

To find the Gryffindor common room, you will need to head to the third floor of the Grand Staircase. Once you get there, you’ll see a hallway with a one-eyed witch statue. Continue past the statue, this passage will take you to a large room. You will then notice a spiral staircase on the other side of this room, and these stairs will lead you directly into a hallway with a portrait of the Fat Lady. This is the secret entrance to the Gryffindor common room.

If you’re in Gryffindor house, you can easily walk up to the portrait and it will open revealing the famous tunnel that leads to the common room.

How to find the Ravenclaw common room

The Ravenclaw common room is located on the fourth floor of the Grand Staircase. Once you reach the fourth floor, you should see a door leading to a blue-colored hallway. From there, you can keep following this path until you reach a green room with a door puzzle. There is a spiral staircase behind the door which is needed to find the Ravenclaw common room.

You will need to climb the spiral staircase to Ravenclaw Tower. Soon you will find yourself in a room with wood paneling. This is where the entrance to the Ravenclaw common room should be. Once you get close you will see an eagle and once you get close the door will open.

If you want to visit multiple common rooms, you can create multiple different characters that have been sorted into different houses.
