It has been ten years since American McGee He said he wanted to make a third game in the Alice series and more than four since he shared information about the game called Alice: Asylum, so we were hoping to hear some news about that soon. Well, we have news, but not what we expected.

McGee shared the bad news on his Patreon, and in his final post he announces that Electronic Arts has decided not to finance the filming of Alice: Asylum. The publishing giant doesn’t want to sell you the license either, meaning plans for a third Alice game are off the table. Quoting McGee:

“We have exhausted all options to create a new Alice game. With these responses from EA, there is no other way to move forward with the project. As such, we will be pausing this page Patreon and pre-production related activities. Content will remain, but we will no longer present options to fund ‘Alice: Asylum’ through this (or any other) platform.”

Obviously, it’s been a blow to him and the team, and that’s certainly one of the reasons why he’s taking the opportunity to announce he’s taking a long break from the gaming industry, and the ton suggests he’s taking a long break from the video game industry. It’s about retirement. Even if EA decides to make a third Alice game, McGee says he has no desire to be involved. An interesting statement, as it would be very surprising if EA didn’t make a new Alice game when the TV series aired.
