When is The Witcher season 3 coming out on Netflix?
It was during Tudum 2022, an online event where Netflix makes various announcements, that the famous SVOD streaming platform announced the period when the third season of The Witcher will be released. We now know that it will take a little patience, since it will land during the summer of 2023. It’s later than originally planned, but the American group assures that the wait will be worth it.
Why was there a delay in the production of this season?
Started in March 2022, filming had to be interrupted and then heavily modified due to an unforeseen event: Henry Cavill, who plays the main character, contracted Covid-19. Sick, he found himself forced to isolate himself. The teams then had to set up a plan B in order to shoot other scenes that did not require the presence of the Witcher on screen. An altogether logical decision but one that required composure from the various departments affected, with certain imperatives having difficulty coexisting between the availability of actors, that of filming locations, or even the production of sets and costumes. These last-minute changes caused a delay in the delivery of the videos to the editors, and therefore postponed the release date initially envisaged.. During the filming of season 2, Henry Cavill had torn his hamstrings, an injury which had also prompted the production team to find solutions so as not to interrupt the filming.
What is the plot of The Witcher season 3?
Although Netflix is quite tight-lipped about the plot of The Witcher’s New Adventures, we do have various details that give us an idea of where events are headed. Pursued by bloodthirsty creatures and monarchs, Ciri continues her training with Geralt but also with Yennefer. The latter is in charge of the magical training of the young heroine, a training that could be vital given the hordes of adversaries chasing the small group. In a bid to learn more about the powers of Cintra’s lion cub, Yennefer leads them to the protected stronghold of Aretuza., located on the island of Thanedd where young magicians are trained. The problem is that the place turns out to be more inhospitable than expected: corruption is everywhere, black magic haunts the place and betrayal never seems far away. Once again, Geralt, Ciri and Yennefer will have to fight to survive.
This season should be the adaptation of Time of Contempt, by Andrzej Sapkowski. We will of course find Geralt (Henry Cavill), Ciri (Freya Allan), Yennefer (Anya Chalotra) and Jaskier (Joey Batey). They will be joined by new actors such as Harvey Quinn, Kate Winter, Poppy Almond, Martyn Ellis, Ryan Hayes or Michalina Olszanska.

Yes, The Witcher Blood Origins is a spin-off not to be confused with the third season of the main series.. It is a prequel set 1200 years before the events experienced by Geralt.
