Kevin Wright revealed how the idea, discussed with Tom Hiddleston, was discarded early on

With two episodes released so far, the second season of Loki had to abandon some ideas planned during pre-production, such as a “multiversal war,” according to producer Kevin Wright.

During an interview with Den of Geek, Wright revealed how the idea came to the attention of Tom Hiddleston, Loki’s character and producer of the Disney+ series, but the idea of conflict was discarded as soon as it was conceived.

“As soon as we talked about it, it seemed completely wrong to jump into something we haven’t earned yet,” he said. “In the writers’ room, all ideas are valid, and we talked about what would happen if Loki were The One Who Stands [played by Jonathan Majors].”

“Those conversations didn’t go very far; I don’t think it even got to Tom, because while there’s something fun and compelling about that idea, it would make the universe seem small,” Kevin Wright continued in the conversation.

Disney+, which rarely releases audience data for its productions, revealed that the premiere episode of the second season of Loki, released on October 5, had 10.9 million views in just three days on the streaming platform.

According to Deadline, this would be the second best premiere of the year, second only to the premiere of the third season of The Mandalorian in March. Although Disney+ didn’t release official figures at the time, an estimate by data company Nielsen revealed that, in its first few days on the streaming platform, the episode would have had around 823 million minutes played.

In the second season of Loki, the God of Mischief, again played by Tom Hiddleston, has to deal with the consequences of Sylvie’s (Sophia Di Martino) decision to kill The One Who Stands (Jonathan Majors), one of the variants of Kang the Conqueror, which ended up causing a collapse in the multiverse.

In addition to Hiddleston, Di Matino and Majors, the second year, which will have six episodes, also features the return of Owen Wilson as Mobius, Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Ravonna Renslayer, Wunmi Mosaku as Hunter B-15, Eugene Cordero as Casey, Tara Strong as Miss Minutes.

Ke Huy Quan (Everything Everywhere at Once), Rafael Casal (Blindspotting) and Kate Dickie (Inside Man) are new additions to the new episodes, which are released every Thursday at 10pm on Disney+. Watch the trailer for the second year of Loki:
