The Puerto Rican singer surpassed the figures reached by Ed Sheeran’s “Divide”.
Puerto Rican singer, Bad Bunny has become the owner of a new record on Spotify after his most recent album “Un verano sin ti” became the most played album in the history of the music platform worldwide surpassing its predecessor, the album “Divide”, by British artist Ed Sheeran.
With more than 13.5 million plays in its history, “A Summer Without You” leaves behind albums by renowned artists in the music industry such as Dua Lipa, Post Malone, The Weeknd, Justin Bieber, Drake, Harry Styles, among others according to Spotify’s chart.
This is how the album, supported in part by viral hits of this production such as his songs “Titi me preguntó” and “Me porto bonito”, which achieved success with the help of social platforms such as TikTok in which included dances and content that could be easily shared among other applications such as Instagram and even YouTube Shorts.
Although “Un verano sin ti” debuted as the No. 1 album in May’s Billboard 200 chart as the most popular song of that month and presented the best historical record for a Latin music album according to the same publication with more than 356.66 million official plays worldwide, it took more than a year to reach the record on Spotify.
Bad Bunny’s phenomenon is not only presented on his Spotify channel, but on YouTube his fans have managed to make his two most viral songs each accumulate more than 700 million plays after a year of being published on this platform. “Me porto bonito” and “Tití me preguntó” add up to 1.4 billion plays.
Even so, these are not the most played songs of the artist, but “Mía”, “Dákiti”, “Amorfoda”, “Callaíta”, “Soy peor” and “Yonaguni” surpass them with figures between 800 million and 1,400 million reproductions, although these were obtained after several years (between two and six).
Bad Bunny’s most recent song, “Where she goes”, which was released during the month of June 2023, currently has more than 78 million reproductions and could be the singer’s next video to surpass 100 million reproductions, totaling 71 of the 130 videos he has published on this platform.
During the year 2022, Benito also registered a great amount of reproductions of his songs in Latin American countries. For example, Mexico, Colombia, Peru and Chile were the territories in the region where his music was the preferred by his audience, being surpassed in the case of Argentina by Maria Becera and La K’onga.
The trend of music hits on Spotify continues after the release of the song “MOJABI GHOST” by Puerto Rican producer Tainy in collaboration with Bad Bunny was announced and managed to position itself as one of the most popular songs in Colombia.
Similarly, “un x100to”, the collaborative song between the Puerto Rican singer and Grupo Frontera has also gained much acceptance in Colombia after remaining for 11 consecutive weeks in the charts of top songs in that country with more than 444 million reproductions.
