Almost four years after being accused of crimes of sexual abuse, the American actor James Franco broke his silence and spoke at length about the complaints made by students at his former drama school.

In an interview given to SiriusXM’s The Jess Cagle podcast, Franco not only acknowledged that he slept with women who were part of his acting school, but he also admitted that he is addicted to sex.

Over the course of my teaching, I slept with the students, and that was wrong. But as I said, that is not why I started school and I was not the person who selected people to be in the class. So it wasn’t a master plan on my part.” Explained the Hollywood star.

When asked if he was aware of the imbalance of power that would unleash when sleeping with his students, the actor said that he felt that everything was fine at that time, as he considered that intimate encounters were consensual.

“I admit I slept with students and that was wrong. It should never have happened. I guess, at that time, my thought was if it was consensual, that’s fine,” he admitted.

Regarding the class of “Sex Scenes”, in which he would have exercised various abuses according to the testimony of the victims, the 43-year-old actor said that this never happened and, furthermore, he considered that said course had another objective.

“It should have been called ‘Contemporary Romance’ or something like that. It was a class in which they did scenes about romance, what they go through when they are young. So meeting people on dating apps, or breakups, or just a bad date, things like that. That is what was being done in that class. They were not sex scenes”, he clarified.

James Franco rose to fame when he played Harry Osborn in the first Spider-Man trilogy. In addition, he was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actor for his performance in the film “127 Hours.”
