The start of 2021 is very strongly marked by the activity of streaming platforms, which unveil their calendar and their adaptation projects. This is also the time of rumors, and the most recent is Black Panther and his homeland, Wakanda.

At the moment, the character has not yet had the right to a video game adaptation, if we put aside the Black Panther released by Konami in 1987, which has nothing to do with Marvel, as well as a few appearances. As for the series and Disney +, things seem a little different. Deadline, very active for a few days, announces in fact that a series would be in development, with Ryan Coogler, director and co-writer of the film, at the helm. The project would tell a parallel story set in the kingdom of Wakanda, and would feature various important characters of the latter. This rumor, which obviously remains to be confirmed, is supported by the signing of a new contract between Disney and Ryan Coogler, who also said:

It is an honor to work in partnership with The Walt Disney Company. Working with them on Black Panther was a dream come true. As avid TV consumers, we couldn’t be happier starting our business with Bob Iger, Dana Walden, and all the amazing studios under the Disney umbrella. (…) We are particularly excited to (work) with Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso and their partners at Marvel Studios, where we will be working closely with them on some MCU shows for Disney +. We are already working on some projects that we can’t wait to share.

Ryan Coogler is a unique storyteller whose vision and reach have made him one of the most remarkable filmmakers of his generation. With lack Panther, Ryan brought a groundbreaking story and iconic characters to life in a real, meaningful and memorable way, creating a defining cultural moment. We are excited to strengthen our relationship and look forward to telling more interesting stories with Ryan and his team, adds Bob Iger, executive chairman of The Walt Disney Company.
