What are the reasons why the Social Security Administration could give you two checks in the same month? In Globe Live Media we are going to explain it to you

The Social Security Administration (SSA) typically sends one paycheck a month to retirees who are enrolled in the program, however, there may be some cases where beneficiaries get two checks in the same month . And this can be due to different reasons.

Some of them are:

1.- If you are a beneficiary of Social Security but also of SSI payments

SSI payments are referred to as Supplemental Security Income and are for people who are at least 65 years old or blind or have a disability. They have limited income (salaries, pensions, etc.) and limited resources, meaning the things they own. Social Security payments are for those who are retired. In this case, there are those who can receive income from both sources.

What you do need to be clear about is that you will never receive your retirement benefits or your SSI payments on the same date, so if you are eligible for both, you will receive two separate monthly checks.

2.- If you receive payments for disability and for SSI

The SSA can grant you disability payments that disable you from working, either temporarily or permanently, and you also receive payments for Supplemental Security Income if you are in the same situation as the point that we explained above in number 1.

These two programs are operated by the Social Security Administration but separately, so you can expect your payments to be made separately as well.

3.- For a calendar theme

This happens when you go through a holiday in which no financial institution is open. Then it happens that the payment of the following month has to be advanced to the next available business day and therefore, that month, two payment checks will be received, but this implies that the month that begins, none will be received.

4.- For late payments

In some cases, due to paperwork, the SSA may have delayed some of your payments and, when it catches up, send you two checks together.

What is the SSA payment schedule

According to the Social Security Administration, retirement payments are as follows:

-Date of birth 1-10: payments on the second Wednesday of the month
-Date of birth 11-20: payments on the third Wednesday of the month
-Date of birth 21-31: payments on the fourth Wednesday of the month
