The computer role-playing game was released for the Xbox in 2005 by Lionhead Studios. The well-known PC version followed as an expansion in the following year. Furthermore, this game is a single-player action role-playing game.
The game principle is simple, the player controls a hero who changes more and more over time. This change depends on the actions, for example the hero can age or become overweight. He can behave well or badly by killing or supporting characters.
Lost battle with cancer
Paul McLaughlin was a key part of 22cans, Lionhead and Bullfrog Studios and developer of the Fable Games. He worked at Lionhead Studios for 15 years, spending half of his time developing Fable.
“Paul has been a huge cornerstone of my life,” writes Lionhead co-founder Peter Molyneux. “He was a professional, moral and fun person who had the ability to see a fair and reasonable approach to any situation. I miss him every day in every way. His legacy will be felt and seen for a long, long time.”
These quotes describe the high relevance of his work in the company. Especially with regard to the upcoming Fable reboots from Playground Games, its absence will be felt strongly.
“It’s a very tragic loss, he was too young to leave us now but gone he is – not on my (and many others’) minds, he will always have a special place there and I will ask him when.” it needs advice on how to be a better person,” wrote Healey, creative director of Dreams studio.
He lost his difficult battle with cancer in December aged just 57, but he will retain his place in the memories of his colleagues and fans, so they and the British games industry share in the loss of the brilliant artist.
