The United States announced Monday that it will only recognize a Taliban government in Afghanistan if you respect women’s rights and stay away from extremist movements like Al Qaeda.
“When it comes to our stance towards any future government in Afghanistan, it will depend on the actions of that government. It will depend on the actions of the Taliban, “State Department spokesman Ned Price told reporters when asked about the matter.

“A future Afghan government that defends the basic rights of its people, that does not receive terrorists and that protects the basic rights of half of its population – its women and girls – that would be a government with which we would be willing to work”, remarked.
The spokesman also stated that the US emissary for Afghanistan, Zalmay Khalilzad, is now in Qatar, where discussions with the Taliban took place for several months, and that US officials have been talking with insurgents in that Gulf state.
