A benchmark leak has potentially confirmed the upcoming Nvidia RTX 4070 specs, including CUDA core count and GPU memory configuration. While the bench test results don’t exactly paint a picture of performance, the entry does give some leverage to existing rumors and the fact that the mid-range graphics card exists.
In theory, the Nvidia RTX 4070 should replace the 3070 on the best graphics card battlefield, as it packs more punch and comes with Nvidia DLSS 3 support. This last benefit alone should allow gamers to increase the fps more than the old 70 series card, but the newcomer from Lovelace will cost $100 more.
Seen by banking breaks, the Nvidia RTX 4070 leak in question comes in the form of early Geekbench results. The results apparently confirm that the card will have 5888 CUDA cores, just like the RTX 3070, along with the same 12GB GDDR6X VRAM as its Ti sibling.
As mentioned above, the Geekbench scores themselves aren’t really useful, since they’re both synthetic and based on an older version of the benchmark suite. However, the RTX 4070 managed 202,437 points in CUDA benchmarks and 177,594 in openCL, which means it performs 25-30% better on paper than the RTX 3070.
If you’ve been following the latest Nvidia RTX 4070 release date rumors, you know that the latest Lovelace card launch is imminent. That said, Nvidia has been known to change its mind at the last minute, so it’s best to hear it from the hardware horse’s mouth before you get too excited.
Of course, you can choose a GeForce card like the one featured in our Nvidia RTX 4070 Ti review if you’re not too concerned about price. Our tests conclude that this is a terrific card with excellent DLSS 3 capabilities, but it’s not quite what we’d expect from a 70-series card.
It’s worth noting that the RTX 4060 and RTX 4050 are also in the works, but it’s unclear if the Ti variants will arrive first. We’re still waiting to hear more about the latest specs for the entry-level card, so keep an eye on this space.
