The April 2023 Steam Hardware Survey is here, and its results point to the arrival of a popular new champion in the realm of graphics cards: the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060. It took an unusually long time to take the place expected as a platform. the most popular GPU, but the pixel booster now stands confidently with a comfortable lead.

The Class 60 model of each GeForce generation is generally perceived as the best graphics card for most people because it offers great budget performance, and the RTX 3060 is no exception. The GPU now takes up 10.44% of Steam users’ systems, after a 6.23% increase from last month. Meanwhile, the RTX 2060 and GTX 1060 trail behind the Pixel Driver, with a 7.89% and 7.69% share respectively.

It took the RTX 3060 about three years to achieve this feat, but it’s hard to say if its reign as Steam’s most prolific GPU will last that long. The Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 release date is expected to arrive in the not too distant future and could be a tempting upgrade route for those with 10 and 20 series cards.

However, it looks like the RTX 40 series still has a long way to go before it’s about to take over the Steam hardware survey. The Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 remains the most popular of the DLSS 3 compatible cards, but it’s only claimed by 0.25% of gaming PCs running Valve’s platform. However, the RTX 4080 fares worse at 0.19% and even the cheapest GPU in the stack, the RTX 4070 Ti, only benefits by 0.23%.

The Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 release date is likely next, and it could be the champion of pixel boosting as the company seeks to gain more market share. We’ll have a graphics card review around launch, so stay tuned!
