He Government of Mexicoby Health Secretary (SEDESA) offers free services of acupuncture, homeopathy, phytotherapy and massage therapy at the Specialized Center for Integrative Medicine (CEMI) which since its inauguration on October 21, 2021 until December 31, 2022 has offered more than 50,509 free consultations: 15,579 for phytotherapy; 20 thousand 962 acupuncture; 9,400 homeopathies and 4,568 massage therapies.

The director of the Mexico City Integrative Medicine Program and in charge of the office of the Direction of the CEMI, Doctor Adalberto Orozco Navarro He explained that the objective of the unit is to guarantee the right to health in the capital of the country, in addition to being an option for a large number of population who need cControl conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, metabolic situations, cancer and facial paralysis.

He added that the physiotherapy service is provided by six doctors who have received Higher course in physiotherapy at SEDESA which covered a total of 737 hours, even some of the doctors are graduates of the Autonomous Metropolitan University (UAM) Iztapalapa. Whereas for homeopathy consultations they have five doctors at the CEMI, who have the specialty, being graduates of National School of Homeopathy of the National Polytechnic School and for acupuncture, there are six doctors who have a Graduated in Acupuncture.

“80% of our patients are adults with chronic diseases and can therefore improve their standard of living, as well as support therapeutic diversification”, explained Orozco Navarro. He also mentioned that the unit is one of a kind, with patients of different conditions such as Hidalgo, Oaxaca, State of Mexico and several from abroad who know the place and come to consult.

The hours of attention are in three shifts; in the morning from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., in the afternoon from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. and on weekends and public holidays, it provides service from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., for make an appointment His phone number is 5550381700, extension 6490.

It is located 10 minutes from Popotla or Military College station, on line 2 of the Metro Public Transportation System (STC).

The program director pointed out that the medical care of CEMC is comprehensive, which involves a series of factors to benefit the patient to lead a dignified life known as Management plan. He added that the conditions obey a very complex context, which is why its form of organization is guided by scheduled appointments in order to grant the necessary time to each patient.

“For example, someone with diabetes, hypertension or metabolic syndrome needs time to explain to us how they live at home, what they eat, what their dynamics and physical activity are, so that we can give one Management plan of his condition, a diet and exercises he needs to avoid damaging certain organs, so we want him to have control of the disease, ”concluded the director of the CEMI

The Specialized Center for Integrative Medicine has two additional activities: teaching, offering courses for medical services in Mexico City and for patients, providing advice on the use of the medicinal plant. If its second job is research, in coordination with the National Council for Science and Technology (Conacyt) with two initial protocols; one on metabolic syndrome and one on anxiety.
